In a video message Alex said: "Do not drink alcohol if you are one of these three people. Dr Alex added that people who suffer with low mood or depression should steer away from drinking alcohol because alcohol itself is a depressant. He warned: "If you drink a couple of nights a week over a period of weeks and months that can cause depression in your brain. It suppresses the brain's good energy and good feelings."

Drinkaware.co.uk say alcohol alters the balance of chemicals in your brain and drinking heavily and regularly is associated with depression. Alcohol slows down processes in your brain and central nervous system, and can initially make you feel less inhibited In the short-term, you might feel more relaxed - but these effects wear off quickly.

The final reason the health expert warns people away from drinking is you feel 'stuck'. He advised: "if you feel you aren't meeting your goals and aspirations in life - if you're feeling stuck. Alcohol can stop us from being the person that we could be from realising our true potential." The advice offered by Dr Alex are his opinions.
